The EFQM excellence model is currently one of the most elaborate modern approaches to measurement of enterprise performance. It is based on the principle of continuous improvement of performance of organisations applied through regular self-assessment and subsequent implementation of improvement operations.
The model consists of nine primary and thirty-two secondary criteria. In the model, these criteria are broken down into two basic areas:
1) Assumptions area – recommends steps leading to maximisation of corporate results. This includes the following criteria: management, policy and strategy, employees, partnerships and resources, processes.
2) Results area – shows the resulting values attained in the organisation. This includes the following criteria: results in relation to customers, results in relation to employees, results in relation to the company, and key performance results.
Not all the criteria have the same importance, so it is necessary to include their weight in the evaluation. After summing up the points attained in the individual areas, the company gets a total score (maximum 1,000 points = 100%). If the company attains at least 500 points, it is considered a very good result.
In our first ever evaluation, we got 416 points and 4 excellence stars. In our second review in 2018, we achieved an improvement of 479 and again 4 stars of excellence.
In 2019 we reached 5 stars of excellence with 538 points.
